Christianity

Daily time with the Bible and the life of Jesus

Christianity is the faith centred on Jesus of Nazareth, whom Christians follow as the Son of God, and on his teaching of love for God and for one's neighbour. Its holy book is the Bible, made up of the Old and New Testaments.

Christians belong to many traditions, including Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant churches. These journeys use passages from the Bible that they share and explain each term simply. You are welcome whether you go to church every week, have not been in years, or have never been.

This tradition's season

Lent

The weeks before Easter, usually starting in February or March.

Lent is the season of about forty days before Easter, the feast when Christians celebrate Jesus rising from death. It usually begins in February or March, and Western and Orthodox churches often keep it on different dates. This journal follows the season from its first day, through Holy Week, the last week before Easter, to Easter morning, one short page a day. You do not need to belong to a church, know the Bible, or fast or give anything up to use it, and you can use it at any time of year.
