Daily wisdom from the Gita and the Hindu traditions
Hinduism is one of the world's oldest living traditions, with roots in India going back thousands of years. Many Hindus call it Sanatana Dharma, often translated as "the eternal way". It holds a wide family of scriptures, such as the Bhagavad Gita and the Upanishads.
Hindus practise in many ways, from prayer and devotion to study, service and meditation, and honour the divine in many forms. These journeys explain each Sanskrit word as it comes and do not ask you to follow any one path or practice.

This tradition's season
Navaratri
Usually September or October, on dates set by the lunar calendar.
Navaratri, meaning nine nights, is a Hindu festival kept each autumn, usually in September or October, on dates that follow the lunar calendar. It looks very different across India, from Durga Puja in Bengal and Garba dancing in Gujarat to Golu doll displays in the south and Ram Lila plays in the north, and it ends on Vijayadashami, or Dussehra, a day celebrating the victory of good over harm. These ten short pages offer a passage, a question and a small practice for each night and the tenth day. You need no prior knowledge, ritual or fasting to use them, during the festival or at any time of year.
